Family Trip to Missouri

Over fall break we were able to fly out to Missouri to see some of Josh's extended family and enjoy the fall leaves. We got to stay with his cousins, the Pointer Family on their dairy farm. They were wonderful hosts and we had quite the experience on the farm. I have never really been around farm life, but I really enjoyed it. We got to see how they milk the cows, feed the calves and we even got to see a baby cow be born. Josh's grandparents just live down the road so we got to visit them too. They have a nice property with the iconic red barn. Josh's other cousins, the Lemon's have a turkey farm that we visited too. They had just got a shipment of 35,000 baby turkeys. Wow there were a lot of baby turkey bobble heads! We spent a lot of our trip driving on the winding roads and enjoying the countryside. We took a day trip to Branson and went to Silver Dollar City and a steamboat dinner cruise. We also drove to Bentonville, AR, the home of Walmart headquarters. We saw Catherine one of my childhood friends who just bought a house there and her husband also works for Walmart. While we were there, we couldn't miss Sam Walton's first 5 and dime store. Alta of course was very popular and was very good for most of the trip. She loved all of the new experiences, animals and many many babysitters. We were glad Josh's parents were able to come with us too. On our way back to the Kansas city airport we got to tour Liberty Jail. The church has done an amazing job with the restoration. Thanks to all the Missouri family, we had a wonderful trip!
